Race Report – British BMX Series Rounds 3 and 4

So the race season is really going now. At the weekend Scott raced in rounds 3 and 4 of the British BMX Series, in what will be his last BMX race for a few months as he turns his attention back towards his Mountain Bike.

He felt great and wanted to have a good weekend on the BMX to set himself up ahead of the 4X races he has in the next few weeks.

With the race being at Scott’s local track, Birmingham, he felt confident ahead of the weekend. With just 4 laps of practice for all the riders, Scott was feeling good. In the racing, everything went exactly to plan. Winning all 3 of his qualifying races, he went into the semi final as the top qualifier. A rare mistake in his semi final mean’t he finished in 3rd to transfer into the final.

Onto the final. Scott did not have gate pick and was on gate 5. With another great start Scott simply checked out winning from start to finish. Crossing the finish line Scott had a 3 bike length lead! Stoked with the win Scott said:

“I am loving racing my BMX right now. My confidence is building and I can’t wait for round 4 tomorrow!”

Sunday arrived and Scott just wanted to get back on track and have some fun. Practice again went well. In the qualifying races, the luck of the draw meant Scott had mainly outside gates, making it tougher. With 3 great starts again, Scott took 3 wins and qualified through as the top qualifier.

In the semi final he chose gate 1. Scott rode perfect and took the win. So it was final time. Scott wanted to make this a perfect weekend by winning the final. After such a great lap on Saturday, Scott opted to start from gate 5 again, much to the confusion of his fellow competitors. In a brave move, with first gate riders would normally choose gate 1 but after some rain before the finals, Scott wanted the perfect line into turn 1. Scott made a great start but he was level through the first jumps. Into turn 1 and his gate choice really worked as he flew through turn 1 taking the lead.  From there onwards it was a case of riding smooth and controlled. Crossing the finish line, Scott was stoked:

“It has been a great winter and my training went exactly to plan. Winning the first 4 BMX Nationals is the icing on the cake. Now it’s time for 4X and my first National in over a year next week in Afan, South Wales.”

We want to thank all our team sponsors for all their support in the last year and for all their continued support for the next 2 years. Scott is riding better than ever and we can’t wait to see what 2016 will bring.
